Dr. Clarence S. Gonstead has shown through correlated evidence from adjustments given his patients…that when the subluxation (misaligned joint) is corrected, the physiologic response is immediate.  He has found that the faster the specific subluxations are found, corrected, and the correction is maintained (by the patient), the shorter the route to health.   If favorable changes do not immediately follow the adjustment then the doctor has not chosen the most direct route.  The Gonstead methodology is not a simple method, it is a system of meticulously analyzing the patient, and on the basis of all the information acquired, deciding what corrective steps to take.  It is a system that can be learned by all who diligently apply themselves, and who aspire to duplicate the results obtained at the Gonstead Clinic in Mt. Every engineer knows the importance of the foundation when building a structure.  A good foundation insures durability and long life.  Any slight change or shift in the foundation can cause a great amount of deviation above. The same holds true with the human structure, and it is upon this principle that Dr. Gonstead developed his technique.  The body’s foundation, formed by the pelvic girdle, must be considered from an engineering point of view.  When it is level, within automical limitations of the individual, there will be maximum balance and stability in the spinal column.  This will allow the forces of gravity to work toward maintaining the chiropractic adjustment instead of working against it.  It is not to be implied that the chiropractor’s objective is to straighten the spine.  Since every individual has some structural variations, each spine will vary according to those differences.  “What is normal for one may not be normal for another”
